Sleeping is one of my all time favorite things. The moment I get into bed & curl up around the bod (my body pillow), with the warmth of my hubby beside me, I am so content. Life couldn't seem any better. I feel loved, secure, warm, and thankful.
But how many people in this world don't have that same experience? They sleep on pavements or hard benches. They huddle with countless family members under one blanket trying to stay warm. They sleep on top of children in order to keep the rats away. This is reality.
The homeless community is everywhere. Sometimes it seems hard to know how to serve & love them. Start by letting a little thankfulness enter your soul as you go to sleep tonight in your warm, cozy bed. As you feel secure & content, think for a moment of what it would be to sleep on a cold, hard, cement bench, out in the open where life is exposed. They've got everything to hide & nothing to hide it under.
Imagine the body aches that come with it. Tossing & turning all night long atop a cement foundation, every muscle clenching to stay warm. Fears & worries for your family as you try to keep them safe while they sleep.
I may not have everything I want, but honestly, I have everything I need. Tonight as you curl up in your bed, soaking in the feelings of warmth & security, think of those less fortunate. Now, what can you do to help?
